Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups buttermilk
1 stick butter
4 teaspoons baking powder
4 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
Preparation
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Mix all dry ingredients in a medium bowl.
Next, add the buttermilk and mix all the ingredients until a moist dough forms.
Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, then pour it into an 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish (make sure the dish is not too small or too shallow so the butter doesn’t drip while baking).
Place the dough directly on the melted butter and use a spatula to spread it evenly around the pan until it touches the edge.Cut the unbaked dough (it should be swimming in butter at this point) into 9 even squares.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Enjoy it for breakfast, lunch or dinner! These cookies are the perfect accompaniment to any meal. I like to eat them with raspberry jam.
